A journey from practice to research
Engineering questions shaped by the real world.
My path in transportation began in professional practice, where I worked on freight, multimodal planning, traffic-impact, road-safety, and master-planning projects. Those experiences taught me that a useful method must work beyond the page: it must respond to the constraints, uncertainty, and public responsibilities of real decisions.
At the University of Washington, I now study how artificial intelligence, emerging mobility data, and simulation can support proactive transportation-safety analysis and smart traffic operations. I am especially interested in research that moves from a promising model to a transparent, deployable system.
I hold an M.Sc. in Highway and Transportation Engineering and a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Tehran. Across research, teaching, and collaboration, I value technical rigor, clear communication, and practical public impact.
